FOOD 4 HEALTH SUBMITS COMMENTS TO USDA ON THE 2020 DIETARY GUIDELINES ADVISORY COMMITTEE FINAL REPORT

The Food4Health Alliance submitted final public comments that were largely similar to those it previously submitted. These comments express continued concerns about the need for greater rigor in the DGA scientific process and the need for the Guidelines to be more inclusive of all Americans, including minorities, different age groups, people of low socio-economic status, and the 60% of the population diagnosed with one or more diet-related chronic disease. The Alliance also reported results from its recent report (see previous news item), documenting that more than 90% of the systematic reviews in the Scientific Report by the Guidelines Advisory Committee did not account for race, ethnicity, and/or socio-economic status. F4H recommended that USDA make clear to the American public that the 2020-2025 DGA recommendations lack data on these groups and therefore may be less relevant to them.
